- Narasimha (Sanskrit: नरसिंह, lit. ‘man-lion’, IAST: Narasiṃha), sometimes rendered Narasingha, is the fourth avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. He is believed to have incarnated in the form of a part-lion, part-man being to kill Hiranyakashipu, to end religious persecution and calamity on earth, thereby restoring dharma.
- Lord Vishnu took birth as Narasimha who was half human and half lion to kill the demon Hiranyakashyap. It is believed that for those who worship Lord Narsimha with full devotion, Lord Narasimha removes all the obstacles from the life of devotees.
- It is said to provide protection and blessings to those who recite it with devotion and is believed to be particularly powerful in warding off negative energies and obstacles. The Kavacham can fulfill all the wishes, and remove the malefic effects of planets, black magic, and evil-eye.
- Lord Vishnu is the protector of the universe, and he takes on himself the responsibility of safeguarding the lives of people and ensuring their peaceful existence. To achieve this end, the Lord himself incarnates on earth from time to time, to annihilate evil, protect people from cruelties, and establish dharma, the ultimate righteousness.
- Narasimha is one such sacred incarnation or Avatar of the Lord and is regarded as his 4th incarnation on earth. Narasimha is a unique form, with a human physique and a lion head. This Avatar was believed to have been taken during the Krita (Satya) Yuga, also known as the Golden Age.
